In this project, the scanner serves as a tool to stretch the boundaries of time and space. Katie uses it to scan 35mm photographs of flowers, both living and inanimate, at different stages of their life cycle. These elongated images symbolise the infinite passage of time, reminding us of life's impermanence.
"Life, Death, and Entropy" is the heart of this project, inviting audiences to explore the beauty in impermanence and find solace in the cyclical nature of existence. The elongated images convey a sense of timelessness, blurring the boundaries between the past, present, and future, and challenge viewers to ponder the intricate relationship between life, death, and the ever-encroaching force of entropy.
